A Nelsonite through and through! Travis was born and raised in Nelson and grew up on the fairways of Granite Pointe. Travis graduated from Professional Golf Management in Lethbridge Alberta in the winter of 2004 and found himself at the helm of Granite Pointe a couple days later. Travis began his career in golf at our neighbouring course in Balfour. Once you meet Travis you will soon see what makes him such a great Professional. His positive attitude coupled with his passion for the game has made Travis’ inaugural few seasons at Granite very successful.Travis’ golfing ability is well know in this area, at the age of 17 Travis finished 2nd in the Zone on the Junior Circuit and was the Junior Club Champion at Granite Pointe. While in College Travis was the recipient of a handful of scholarships based on scholastic achievements and on course abilities. As a Professional Travis won the Balfour Men’s Open in 2003 and 2005. On a personal note, Travis calls Nelson home with his wife Rhonda, their son Tyson and daughter’s Michaela and Delaynee.

He joins us most recently from Nicklaus North Golf Course in Whistler, where he spent the last two years developing into a credible golf professional. Jamie displays strong passion for playing the game, as well as teaching it to all ages and abilities.

Golf Shop Assistant – Gary Megaw

Golf Shop Assistant – Paul Lamoureux
golf@granitepointe.ca

Tall Paul!!!     Need we say anymore?      No…     but we will.

Paul and Travis worked together years ago in Balfour. Rumor has it that Paul was the first person Travis called when he was hired at Granite Pointe. “I can’t imagine a better guy to work with” Travis states.

Paul is a guru of customer service, his sense of humour and unrelenting enthusiasm make for a laugh each time you visit the shop. Behind the smile are decades of golfing background and experience, and not to mention one or two good rounds of golf as well. Tall Paul brings a lot to this club, he knows everyone, likes everyone and the feelings are almost always mutual.

Course Management:

Course Superintendent – Frank Hufty
frank at granitepointe.ca

Frank has been at home at Granite Pointe for more than a dozen years (and counting).  There is definately nobody that spends more time on the course than Frank – unfortunately it’s not usually time spent golfing.

Assistant Superintendent – Ryan Holiday

“Doc” is yet another staff member that Granite Pointe couldn’t do without. Ryan and Sarah toghether with their young family love living in Nelson. This smooth swinging right hander gets around the course like no other, either on a mower or packing his clubs.

Office Management:
Manager – Lawrie Tees
tees at granitepointe.ca

Lawrie is definately one of a kind. If he’s not watching the books, he’s looking for his golf ball. Lawrie has been a fixture at Granite Pointe for many years, fellow staff love his sense of humour both on the course and off. Once you play a round with Lawrie you will find out what makes him such a great book keeper (the practice he gets from keeping score).
